The City of Miami Board gave its approval to the mixed-use tower proposed to replace Brickell’s Burger King-anchored strip mall. The 78-story, 960-foot supertall will feature 392 condos, 66,618 sq. ft. of retail occupying four floors, 464 parking spaces and bicycle parking. The concept is that it acts like a flower in a garden that spreads to capture sunlight. Practically, it means that residences will capture extraordinary light and views even though the development sits in a “garden” of nearby structures, including the Brickell City Centre.
At its base will be four levels of vibrant retail space covering 65,000 square feet. This innovative podium will be encircled by a ramp that will seem to slice the façade, decorated with vertical fins designed to capture the passage of the sun as well as give a distinct profile to the ground floors.The architect for this signature building is Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates and is a project of Claro Development. Fisher Island developer Heinrich Von Hanau just got approved zoning changes to allow for a 57-unit, 10-story condominium building at 6 Fisher Island Drive and 12 single-family homes at 68 Fisher Island Drive. The developers said they are considering building live-work units in Allapattah, and plan to have co-working space in the lobby. The existing building is currently leased to retail tenants.
